Obviously we started school at an odd time. As of her first day, there were only three weeks left in the school year. And, unfortunately, the bus situation takes time to work out and last week her daddy had to work so we weren't able to get her to school. So out of her three weeks, she'll be able to go for two.
Today is the first day of her last week before the summer. She was excited this morning to see her teacher and friends so of course, that makes it easier for me to leave her there.
She's already a different kid. Mom said that at church yesterday people were commenting that her motor skills have improved and she's already more social. Some people are insisting that there was never anything wrong with her, that she just needed socializing, and that really irks me--I'm her mother, I wouldn't have taken her to the doctor in the first place if I thought it was merely a social issue. But all the same, I appreciate that they're noticing the change in her. I've noticed too.
During the summer months I won't have much to talk about as far as school goes, so I'll try to share more about Little Froggy and what she's doing and how she's changing. I'll also try to share some about us as a family and how we're dealing with things (which really isn't complicated--she's weird, just like the rest of us, and we love her for it!). With any luck it'll give me time to get this blog up and running well before the "real" school year starts for us.
So that's it for now. If anyone has questions or comments or advice feel free to share. Oh, and no hate, please. It hasn't been an issue thus far and I hope it won't be. My intention with this blog is that ultimately our situation could help someone else and other people using it as a platform to spew unkindness or judgment at parents who don't share their opinions or parenting styles won't be tolerated. Friendly, well-informed debate is another thing entirely, and as I love to learn, I'd love for you to share any research or information you stumble across.
I tried to comment on your first week post last week, but Blogger wasn't being very cooperative! It's great news that school is going so well. There aren't any summer programs there? That would be so nice for her. Maybe summer library programs, even? My boys loved those, even though they just met once a week.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear it's going well!!
Too bad you run into such judgmental people! I don't understand why people would choose to act that way.
ReplyDeleteI like your intentions with your blog. I'm also glad Little Froggy is doing so well.
